Culture is an arrangement of rituals, knowledge, technology, governing practices, economy, language, values, ethics, and behaviors that support the existence of a social system within its ecosystem. Organizations that are future oriented manage two forces: conservation and adaptation. The interplay between conservation and adaptation drives organizational evolution.

Cultural practices within organizations serve to stabilize the inner force of conservation while at the same time prepare organizational systems to engage in ongoing learning and adaptation. Cultural practices serve to anchor the enactment of change philosophies, values and ethics that support the implementation of theories of change while at the same time conserving organizational memory.

Cultural practices are implemented within the following organizational systems:

  • Supervision and performance review

  • Team leadership and management

  • Evaluation

  • Intra and cross team collaboration

  • Board leadership and management

  • Senior leadership

  • Program design and implementation

  • Innovations development

  • ETC…
